About Deep Roots Produce

Hi! We're Stephen and Liv McDaniel. We decided in March of 2019 to open a u-pick, we-pick produce stand and pumpkin patch in Caledonia, Michigan - just outside of Grand Rapids. We had four months to transform an old hay barn into a functioning farm stand. With the help of family and friends, we were able to make it happen! The land we farm has been in my (Liv) family for over 40 years. When my grandpa (Doc) passed in 2015, the Crissman family LLC gained possession of the land. In 2021, we purchased the land from my family, and it is officially in our name! We cannot wait to continue to expand while honoring the land's rich history in agiculture!

Deep Roots Background

A little background on us...We grew up in Florida, but our roots are here in Michigan. We both come from farming families: my family raised Angus cattle, and Stephen's family farms corn and soybeans in the Thumb of Michigan. Stephen has been farming since 2011. His parents, Scott and Karen, owned a farm in Estero, Florida, which is where Stephen and I met. Scott and Karen, along with my parents, Bob and Lesley, have been a huge help in bringing this vision to fruition.

In 2020, we decided to add a corn maze to our farm! We also began selling Christmas trees. In 2021, we opened a small petting zoo! We feel a strong pull to offer more family friendly activities to the community, and we want to continue expanding on that idea!
